On June 18, 2012 at approximately 9:43am, members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a commercial vehicle losing it’s load on the bypass.

A CANOR flat bed tractor trailer unit was transporting a large steel bin loaded with scrap metal on the bypass (Algonquin) and was attempting to turn left to continue southbound.

While in the process of turning left, the large steel bin fell from the trailer scattering its scrap metal load onto the highway. Some of the scrap metal struck another vehicle causing minor damage. There were no injuries.

The tractor trailer and its load were escorted to the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) weigh scales for an inspection. As a result of the joint investigation, charges were laid against both the driver and the company as follows:

Driver: John BROWN, 52yrs of North Bay and his employer CANOR of North Bay were charged with Insecure Load contrary to section 111(2) of the Highway Traffic Act.
