“The fights aren’t over until Harper & McGuinty play their last hand!” said Henri Giroux, president of the North Bay and District Labour Council.

The federal budget Bill C-38 with changes to over 70 different laws within the huge omnibus bill including changes to the environment, employment insurance, labour rights, old age security, natural resources, human resources, immigration rules and foreign workers will now await third reading on Monday followed by possible vote among the senate.

“The 451 page provincial budget which is scheduled for third reading this Wednesday June 20 will determine the fate of Ontarians and the future of the 99%. McGuinty plans to gamble away the future of Ontario’s public service. Hidden within the budget is Schedule 28. If passed this would allow the minister or his designate to privatize any board or agency or government service like OHIP or even our Hwy’s without public consultation or without the legislation debate. Once again McGuinty is using Ontarians like gambling chips to play his game. The only problem is if he wins his hand in this game Ontarians will lose.” said Giroux.
