Widdifield’s Free The Children (FTC) group demonstrated their community spirit by supporting Hands The Family Help Network, an organization dedicated to helping the community to reach the best help when needed the most.

The group pulled together and hosted a fundraising International Dinner this past May 9th, and on Thursday Diane Brown-Demarco and Paul Laperriere paid a visit to Widdifield Secondary School where they received a cheque for $5,400.

The FTC group has been raising money to donate to causes overseas and outside of North Bay for several years, but this year the philanthropic group decided to donate the money to a local charity, keeping it close to home.

“We felt that Hands is an extremely important organization in our community that is very worth our support. As youth we could relate to the young people whose lives would benefit this new center. We are very proud to be able to make a difference” states Free The Children member Katie Fettes.

They will put the funds towards Hands' new Therapeutic Youth Learning Residence.
