Madigan receives first Diamond Jubilee medal for the region

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli was thrilled to present Hariett Madigan with a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal on Saturday.

Madigan received her medal at a surprise event during the morning Community Waterfront Friends tree planting project at the Pergola.

“I’ve personally known and worked with Hariett for years and I thank the community for nominating her,” Fedeli said.

Madigan was recognized for her years of service to the community, specifically her leadership with the Community Waterfront Friends and the development of the former
CP Rail lands.

This is the first of 14 medals Fedeli will be awarding over the course of this Jubilee year.

The Diamond Jubilee Medal is a commemorative medal created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the accession of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to the Throne and as a way to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.
