On Wednesday, June 6th at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, the Seeing More Clearly Campaign Cabinet announced they have exceeded their community fundraising goal of
$6 million.

“The citizens of North Bay and area have truly been the corner stone of this campaign. The $6M from the community will go a long way in helping the hospital pay back the $10M we borrowed to invest in Diagnostic Imaging to save lives now,” says Mark Hurst, President and CEO of the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

Johanne Bourgeois says the money raised helps her have access to regular MRIs. “At the young age of 44, I was diagnosed with a rare cancer. I have had to travel to Timmins and Sudbury, sometimes waiting up to six weeks to receive treatment and test results. When you have cancer, every day is too long to wait. Now, I get regular MRIs at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. Being so close to home gives me comfort and piece of mind.”

Today’s event recognized the generosity of 132 leadership donors; corporations, businesses, service organizations and individuals, who have made gifts of $5,000 and greater towards helping our community access more advanced levels of diagnostic care.

“The campaign cabinet volunteers, prominent and busy members of our community, who stood behind the campaign, worked hard to secure these gifts.” says Barbara Minogue, Honourary Campaign Co-Chair.

Al McDonald, Campaign Co-Chair explains, “This campaign affected each and every one of us, and the community as a whole. Our district built this hospital and we are committed to it. The campaign volunteers and donors have demonstrated this again today.”

Over the last year, the NBRHC has performed over 115,000 Diagnostic Imaging scans.

“This tells me the community has helped a lot of people through their commitment to the campaign and through their
commitment to each other,” says Tammy Morison, Campaign Director.

The event, aptly titled “the Victory Celebration” drew to a close an important milestone in the Seeing
More Clearly campaign.

“Our sincere thanks to the community who are continuing to respond to this urgent need and for helping our hospital provide advanced levels of care,” says Ted Thomson, Campaign Co-Chair.
