Monday's City Council meeting saw a multitude of issues being put on the table that were of interest to many citizens here in North Bay.

The United Way formalized its ongoing commitment to the city, citizen's expressed concerns about the possibility of a casino being erected and councillors looked at the condominium application process a little more closely.

A major announcement of the evening was the new Deputy Mayor Sean Lawlor taking his post and the ensuing shuffling of councillors on committees.

Jack Garland Airport had zoning issues discussed and more planning got passed by council as well as a presentation requesting bike racks on the front of public transportation buses like those seen on the West Coast be considered in the community.

Another major issue was the ongoing concerns of Cassellholme with its expanding and aged facility being examined by the province for a 60 million dollar upgrade in the near future.

Councillors also took time to give accolade and thanks to Peter Chirico for all the work he has done through the years on boards, committees and of course, council.
