Over the last two days, the Health Unit, in collaboration with the City of North Bay and Ministry of Environment, has been investigating the impact of the formaldehyde spill in Trout Lake.

Based on the characteristics of formaldehyde in water and consultations with other experts, the Health Unit has lifted the restrictions for recreational use of Trout Lake, with the exception of properties from 110 to 270 Silver Lady Lane.

Residents and visitors outside of the Silver Lady Lane area can resume recreational use of the water in Trout Lake, including swimming and water sports.

The Health Unit reminds residents and visitors along Trout Lake to continue with the precautions below:

 Do not use the water if you use a private water system and draw your water from Trout Lake. Use an alternate source of water

 You CANNOT remove the contaminants by boiling the water or by using home water treatment devices

 Do not use the water from Trout Lake for pets or livestock

North Bay’s municipal water supply is not affected. For information about health issues with the water, call the Health Unit at 705-474-1400.
