Managing Director of Community Services Jerry Knox says emergency crews hope to have the overturned tanker on Highway 63 removed this afternoon and traffic flowing by the evening.

During this morning’s media briefing Knox said everyone is working tirelessly to get the area cleaned up and get residents back to their home, however, safety is paramount so everyone’s patience during the clean-up process is greatly appreciated.

He again stressed that staff at the water treatment plant have doubled water testing efforts and the city’s piped water supply is safe, but cautions everyone with private water systems who draw their water directly from Trout Lake not drink the water.

Knox will update efforts at a news briefing this afternoon but in the meantime he asked people not to tie up the police emergency phone lines, a general information line has been set up at city hall and folks can call 705-474-0626 ext. 2333.

Anyone with questions about drinking water or health issues is asked to call the Health Unit at 705-474-1400.
