North Bay Police Service continued their Police Week celebrations Thursday, by hosting ten area students to an Officer for a Day event.

The students, who are partaking in the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Program), were selected from their peers to participate for a number of reasons including the contributions they have made to their communities.

The daylong event is a special police education program that includes a swearing in ceremony, orientation tour of most aspects of policing, radar operation, and forensic techniques and of course no visit would be complete without going through the process of finger printing.

Students will be treated to a pizza lunch followed by seeing what happens in an Emergency Response Team training session this afternoon.

St. Vincent Grade 5 student Tyson Periard says he was excited and surprised to learn exactly all that goes on around the police station.
