Everyone in North Bay and Callander can play a leadership role in making our communities safer, Chief Paul Cook said today.

“Our partnerships within the community are essential in preventing crime and making our citizens safer and the police cannot do it alone. We need the support of every resident of North Bay and Callander. Police Week is a great opportunity to engage people in our community on topics such as crime prevention programs and community policing.”

The theme of Police Week 2012 is “Leading the way to a safer tomorrow.” Police Week runs from May 13 – 19 in Ontario and is dedicated to increasing community awareness and recognition of policing services and strengthening partnerships between police and the community.

Police Week 2012 will be marked with an invitation for our community partners and citizens to attend North Bay Police Service Headquarters on Wednesday, 16 May 2012 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to meet with members of the Community Programs Section, to discuss partnerships and community safety initiatives

“Police Week is an opportunity to show our appreciation to our police officers and their community partners for all they do to keep our communities safe,” said Madeleine Meilleur, Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services. “Ontario is safer and stronger thanks to our police services and the support of the government and all Ontarians.”
