Sending out an S.O.S.

North Bay Mayor Al McDonald lowered the Provincial flag at North Bay City Hall to half-mast Friday sending a strong distress signal to the Government of Ontario over growing concerns that the Province has abandoned the North.

Other mayors have followed suit lowering flags at many municipally-owned facilities throughout Northern Ontario demonstrating their opposition to the Government’s arbitrary plan to divest the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission and the Premier’s refusal to meet with Northern Mayors.

McDonald says the North will continue to fight for a New Deal for the Ontario Northland and the Northern Communities Working Group’s commitment to fair and equitable services and quality of life for all Northerners.
