Two city residents charged with fraud

Members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the North Bay OPP Criminal Investigations Unit wrapped up a 7 month investigation into an $184,000 fraud with the laying of over a dozen criminal charges against 2 adults on April 17, 2012.

The owner of Hunter’s Bay Marine, a seasonal business located in Nipissing Township contacted the police in August of 2011 after suspicions of his finances being tampered with by his bookkeeper.

A police investigation commenced for the time period of October 2010 to August 2011.

As a result of this investigation, their bookkeeper of 5 years at Hunter’s Bay Marine was arrested along with her former boyfriend and held for bail.

They have since been released from custody pending trial.

Charged is bookkeeper; 41 year old Sherry KENNEDY of North Bay, ON with:


 2 counts of Theft Over $5000 contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

 2 counts of Falsification books and documents – Fraudulent Intent contrary to section 397(1) (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

 3 counts of Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

 Possession of Property obtained by Crime over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

 Utter Forged Document – Use contrary to section 368(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

 Break Enter and Theft contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Also charged is 35 year old Peter KIDD of North Bay, ON with:

 Break Enter and Theft contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

 Possession of Property obtained by Crime over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

 2 counts of Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada
