On April 12th and 13th, 2012, Team Kick Ash competed in Envirothon, an academic competition focusing heavily on environmental sciences, and took home first place. Team Kick Ash includes Dali Pecore, Jordan Mayfield, Shannon Pecore, Hailey Mayfield and Jillian Pineau.

Two participants are grade 12 students, one is from grade 10 and two are from grade nine.

Dali specialized in soils, Jordan specialized in Aquatics, Shannon took on Non Point Source Pollution, Hailey studied Wildlife and Jill specialized in Forestry. Team Kick Ash scored exceptionally well on all tests and gave an intellectual oral presentation on Non Point Source Pollution in Lake Winnipeg.

The team received accolades from all who heard their hearty cheers and saw their hilarious costumes. The girls each wore a decorated t-shirt, men’s underwear, leggings and nerdy knee socks.

Shannon’s costume consisted of a decorated t-shirt, a gas mask and a black hat. F.J’s Team Kick Ash will move on to the provincial competition May 2nd- May 5th at Tim Horton Onondaga Farms in St. George.

A special thank you goes out to Ms. Mayfield who chaperoned the trip and gave much of her time.

Good luck at Provincials, Team Kick Ash!
