North Bay artists shine at the 2012 Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards!

It has been announced that North Bay artists Faraway Neighbours and Shawn Sasyniuk have been nominated for the 2012 Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards (NOMFA) Conference.

In the music categories, Faraway Neighbours have been nominated in the Album of the Year by a Duo or Group and Engineer of the Year categories for its Album “Carry On, Man”.

Shawn Sasyniuk is nominated in the Engineer of the Year category for “All Is Not Lost” by Cody Allen.

The awards will be handed out on Saturday April 28th in the Great Hall at Laurentian University in Sudbury.

To see a live performance by Faraway Neighbours, you can attend the Music Showcase on the evening of Friday April 27th.

Album Of The Year by a Duo or Group – Carry On, Man
Engineer Of The Year (for Carry On, Man by Faraway Neighbours)

North Bay-based alt folk act Faraway Neighbours crafts soundscapes which reflect their love of Radiohead, Grizzy Bear, Great Lake Swimmers and Ambulance Ltd. in a style all their own.

The band’s 11-track, self-produced debut, “Carry On, Man” was released on indie imprint Brood Records on May 28, 2011.

Shawn Sasyniuk
Engineer Of The Year (for All Is Not Lost by Cody Allen)

A native of North Bay, Ontario, Shawn Sasyniuk initially gained his reputation as a solid and energetic drummer and percussionist.

Throughout his professional career he has remained a first call musician for many touring and recording artists. After 12 years of recording in Montreal, Shawn returned home 2 years ago and set up his studio in Callander Ontario, just outside of North Bay.

His recording, producing and engineering clients include Cody Allen, Mireille Moquin, Craig Cardiff, John McGale, Dayv Poulin, Leïla Reguigui, Raphael Freynet, Paul Demers, Tricia Foster, Serge Monette, Anique Granger, Jean-Guy "Chuck" Labelle, Robert Paquette and Antoine Tremblay-Beaulieu amongst others.
