Gord Miller, Environmental Commissioner of Ontario will be the guest speaker at the annual general meeting of The Greater Nipissing Stewardship Council (GNSC) on Friday, April 20, 7:00 p.m. at the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority office, Natural Resources Classroom, 15 Janey Avenue, North Bay (located at the top of the Laurentian Ski Hill).

His talk is entitled “Engaging Solutions – Getting on with the Work of Environmental Protection”.

John Thornton, Council Chair, stated “the Commissioner’s talk will highlight remarks from his last annual report to the Legislature.” Thornton added “this type of presentation fits well with one of the Council’s key mandates which, in part, is to encourage and foster an understanding and awareness of the natural resources and environment”.

The Council will also be highlighting 2011 accomplishments and projects and initiatives planned or underway for this year.

The GNSC is a charitable organization that partners with similar-minded groups and government agencies to implement environmental programs; provide information on conservation and sustainability; and to increase awareness of the ecosystem. The greater Nipissing area encompasses Marten River to Trout Creek and Mattawa to Hagar, an area larger than Algonquin Provincial Park. For more information visit: www.greaternipissing.ca.

The meeting is open to the general public.
