Traffic stop leads to seizure of methamphetamine & marihuana

MATTAWA – A Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting general patrol on John Street in the town of Mattawa on March 31, 2012 when he stopped a vehicle travelling westbound at 11:25 am.

As a result of the traffic stop and further investigation, the officer seized 9.6 pounds of Methamphetamine (Speed) pills and another 5 pounds of suspected marihuana as well as a sum of money. The drugs street values are estimated at approximately $150,000.

36 year old Luc PRINCE of Timmins Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences:

 Trafficking Schedule II - Cannabis Marihuana over 3 kg, contrary to CDSA s. 5(1);

 Possession for the Purpose Schedule II over 3 kg, contrary to CDSA s. 5(2);

 Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada s. 354(1) (a).

 Possession for the Purpose Schedule I – Other Drugs, (Methamphetamine) contrary to CDSA s. 5(2);

 Trafficking Schedule I – Other Drugs, (Methamphetamine) contrary to CDSA s. 5(1);

PRINCE was held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 1, 2012.
