Updating barricaded man in Papineau-Cameron Township investigation

MATTAWA – On Wednesday March 28, 2012, at approximately 12:20pm, members of the Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a Papineau-Cameron Township residence to investigate a male barricaded in his residence with a firearm.

With the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), officers entered the residence and located a deceased adult male.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been notified and has invoked its mandate.

On Wednesday March 28, 2012, members of the Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been dispatched to a Papineau-Cameron Township residence to investigate a male who may possibly be in possession of a firearm.

Members of the OPP, including the Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit are on scene and the investigation is ongoing.

A lone male person is believed to be in the residence, however it is not known at this time what the exact details are.

There has been and will be some local traffic disruptions in the area. Updates relating to this incident will be provided as the information becomes available.
