17 year old faces a number of charges including fail to stop for police

NORTH BAY – On Wednesday March 28, 2012, members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted with regards to two (2) separate driving offences.

Police were advised of a north bound white Chevrolet Suburban driving erratically including speeding and unsafe driver actions.

Investigation into the suspect vehicle identified it as a stolen vehicle.

North Bay Police Service, as well as members of the Anishnabek Police Service and the OPP located the vehicle just off Seymour Street in the city of North Bay.

The suspect then attempted to elude police by ramming the Anishnabek Police vehicle.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

A 17 year old male from South Stormont, ON; whose name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act will be held in custody pending a bail hearing today in North Bay and has been charged with the following:

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000; contrary to section 355(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

• Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle; contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

• Mischief Over $5000; contrary to section 430(3)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

• Drive Disqualified; contrary to section 259(4)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

• Fail to Stop for Police; contrary to section 216 of the Highway Traffic Act of Canada
