Traffic complaint leads to impaired charges

STRONG TWP - On Wednesday March 21, 2012 at approximately 12:00pm, police from the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police Detachment received a traffic complaint on Highway 11, Strong Township.

The vehicle, a 1998 Audi was North Bound on Highway 11 when police stopped it.

After a short conversation, the driver of the Audi was arrested for exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol.

The driver, Phillip STAINTON (38) of Willowdale, ON was taken to the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police Detachment and later released from police custody.

STAINTON was charged with Exceed 80 Milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content/ Motor Vehicle, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The driver was also charged with Driving while under suspension, Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario and Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario.

STAINTON is to appear in Court in Sundridge, Ontario on Tuesday May 1, 2012
