This is not a Watch or Warning, but a Statement providing information on the current snow pack conditions and an outlook of expected watershed conditions over the next five days.

The unseasonably high temperatures that the area has experienced over the past week have reduced the snow pack significantly with patches of snow still present only in the eastern portion of the watershed.

The forecasted drop to more seasonable temperatures, together with the rain expected at the end of the week, could lead to increasing water levels, ice break-ups/jams and fast moving water.

Minor localized flooding is currently being experienced in low lying areas while some area water courses continue to rise.

Municipalities are encouraged to monitor water crossings to ensure the continual movement of water through culverts and bridges. A close watch on local conditions and updated forecasts and warnings from Environment Canada is also recommended.

All residents, especially those in low lying areas, are encouraged to monitor the conditions that are developing.

Parents are encouraged to keep their children and pets away from watercourses and off frozen water bodies at this time as water levels and ice conditions can change suddenly.

Staff at the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority will continue to monitor weather and watershed conditions and provide updates if conditions change.

The general public is advised of these messages through the www.nbmca.on.ca website with the flood status icon and a link to information about current conditions.

NBMCA also issues these messages to local media for dissemination to the general public.
