Did you know that in 1946 there were more than 500 outhouses backing on to Chippewa Creek?

This and other interesting facts about the history, health and restoration of one of North Bay’s most significant waterways, Chippewa Creek, will be featured during a World Water Day guided hike this Saturday March 24th, led by the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA).

Hikers meet at the south parking lot at Memorial Gardens before the 10 am departure.

The 2 hour hike will follow Chippewa Creek to John St. along the Kinsmen Trail which is a portion of the new Chippewa Creek Eco Path which will be launched in June.

The hike is part of World Water Day Festival, hosted by the NBMCA and Greening Nipissing.

The family-friendly Festival will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 399 Cassells Street from 1-4pm featuring vendors, art, workshops and displays.

Both the Chippewa Creek Hike and the Festival are free.
