City police warn of computer fraud

The North Bay Police Service wish to caution the public about a fraudulent computer advertisement for rental property that has appeared on North Bay Kijiji.

After inquiring about the house that is for rent, people were asked by email to fill out application forms.

They were then requested to send a $1000 to a bank account in the United States to obtain the keys.

Investigation reveals the house advertised is not a rental property and the emails originate in Nigeria.

The North Bay Police recommends that caution be used in any transaction where a quantity of money is requested and the identity of the recipient is unknown.

When in doubt, contact your local police agency.
