North Bay - The 9th Annual Snowshoe Trails and Wagging Tails Dog Walk brings together cold noses and warm hearts for a good cause on Saturday March 3rd.

This annual fundraising dog walk is organized by the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) in collaboration with the North Bay and District Humane Society (NBDHS).

The walk, scheduled for March 3, 2012 at 10 am at the trails along the Laurentian Escarpment Conservation Area, is a fundraiser for the Humane Society.

If you are interested in walking a Humane Society dog, please arrive early, as the dogs will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

“We look forward to a great hike with the public, and find this is a great opportunity to showcase our organization and what we do in the community.” Daryl Vaillancourt, NBDHS Manager.

"All funds and supplies raised go directly to the Humane Society and help us greatly at this time of year."

This walk is free of charge, but the NBMCA and NBDHS kindly ask that participants make a monetary donation or donate supplies for the orphaned dogs and cats. Walkers and dogs can meet at the NBMCA offices at the top of the ski hill, 15 Janey Ave.

The North Bay Humane Society supports the district of North Bay through the following goals.

1. PREVENTING THE CRUELTY, ABUSE AND NEGLECT OF ALL COMPANION ANIMALS.

2. PROVIDING A CLEAN, SAFE, HEALTHY HAVEN FOR ABUSED, ABANDONED, LOST AND UNWANTED PETS.

3. EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ABOUT RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP, SPAY/NEUTER IMPORTANCE, CARE AND CONTROL.
