The North Bay Trappers are supporting the 2012 YMCA Strong Kids Campaign in a big way this year! By participating in YMCA Cross-Canada Challenge, players are actively collecting pledges from the community, all in support of the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.

The Challenge is a pledge to work out for a total of 26 hours during the campaign month (February 10, 2012 – March 15th, 2012) As players work out, they will make their way across Canada, one province or territory will be credited for every 2 hours of a working out.

"I think it’s a great opportunity for our players to help out with this worthy cause. The boys work out daily in this tremendous facility and we are proud to support one of our key community partners," says Chris Dawson, Trappers President/General Manager.

The YMCA Cross-Canada Challenge is not only a fundraiser for the Strong Kids Campaign but a way to get the North Bay Community involved in the YMCA and thinking about healthy living.

“Our goal with the Cross-Canada Challenge is to raise much needed funds and awareness for the Strong Kids Campaign, and also get people thinking about staying active and living healthier lives. We are so pleased to have the North Bay Trappers involved in this program. It is a testament to the community support that we rely on so heavily for the Strong Kids Campaign,” says Kim Kanmacher, YMCA of North Bay CEO.

Fans are able to pledge their favorite player on February 23rd 2012 at the Trappers game against the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners.

A Strong Kids Cross-Canada Challenge Booth will be set up in the Lobby of Memorial Gardens, where donations and pledges will be accepted, in support of the players and the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.

During 2011, the YMCA of North Bay was able to provide more than $250,000 in assistance to children, youth and families.

Access to child care, camp, recreation, fitness and swim programs are made available as a result of the Strong Kids Campaign.

You can register for the challenge or make donations at the YMCA or online at www.ymcastrongkids.ca. For more details, visit online or call the YMCA at (705) 497-9622.
