This Saturday, Canadore is hosting the 22nd Annual Cultural Gathering organized by its Aboriginal Student Association.

This year’s theme is “In Solidarity”. The gathering includes drumming, dancing, Aboriginal arts and crafts and a traditional feast.

The event will also mark the celebration of the success of the Wheels for Gord Campaign.

Gord Mianscum, a student with paraplegia confined to a wheel bed, will receive the keys to a retrofitted van that will provide safe and reliable transportation.

Canadore students, faculty and staff, the Nipissing University Aboriginal Initiatives Office, the Union of Ontario Indians and the Anishinabek Seven Generations Charity all worked tirelessly to raise over $30,000 for Mianscum’s unique transportation needs.

The Wheels for Gord Campaign celebration will take place on February 18 at 11 a.m. in room D100 of the College Drive Campus in North Bay is followed by the Cultural Gathering at 12 p.m. in the campus gym.

Everyone is welcome to attend this one-day event to learn and grow through cultural exchange.
