The Near North District School Board brought 32 students to the DECA Provincial Business Case Competition in Toronto at the Sheraton Centre Monday and Tuesday.

Students from the board participated in case challenges that provide them with hands-on experiences in various fields and industries of business.

Lona Price-Jones from Widdifield Secondary was one of the qualifiers who placed top twenty in her category of Sports and Entertainment Marketing.

That particular category had over 200 strong business students involved which shows the calibre of some of the Near North students.

Over 5,000 other like minded business students took part in the two day event which decides what students will go on to the international competition in Salt Lake City, Utah.

It is expected that over 30,000 students will be at the international competition.

DECA is an organization that is recognized by universities as a premier organization producing high-calibre, driven student leaders.

By giving students hands-on experiences in the fields of marketing, business and entrepreneurship, DECA enhances the classroom experience by providing conferences and competitions that mold high school students into character-driven leaders.
