The Liberal government is moving to close several local
Employment Resource Centres and Practice Firms, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli has learned.

In a letter from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, it was revealed the following locations will be losing their funding when their agreements expire:

CTS Computer Services, 107 Shirreff Ave., North Bay

DSSAB Employment Centre, 105 Landon St., Bonfield

DSSAB Employment Centre, 380 Main St., Mattawa

Canadore College Practice Firm, 60 Commerce Court, North Bay

Le Centre d’alphabetisation Alec du Nipissing Practice Firm, 327 Dudley Ave., North Bay

“We welcome the effort to restrain spending so long as it does not compromise getting unemployed people back to work,” Fedeli said.

Still, Fedeli points out there are more than half a million Ontarians out of work and our unemployment rate has been above the national average for five consecutive
years.

“Dalton McGuinty has no job creation strategy and he has refused our very reasonable proposal to create 200,000 apprenticeship jobs,” Fedeli said.

“It’s my intention to closely monitor how these moves affect Nipissing. My priority is getting people back to work.”
