North Bay and Area Community Foundation 2012 grant recipients are from left to right: Dave Coutts of the Canadian Diabetes Association, Tarian Shortt and Darlene Tripp of Packsac Smiles, Bill Hagbord and Dick Tafel of the Friends of Laurier Woods, Kathy Jenneault (front row) from All Heart Pet Rescue and Tami Price-Fry of the Near North Palliative Care Network.

The North Bay and Area Community Foundation announced the groups that will receive grants this year during a media conference Tuesday.

Foundation Chair Jack Burrows was pleased to announce the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, All Heart Pet Rescue, Friends of Laurier Woods, Packsac Smiles and the Near North Palliative Care Network will each receive $1,000 towards their ongoing community work.

One more group will be recognized for their efforts in March when the Chairman’s grant is announced.

The grant announcement leads up to the Foundation’s annual fundraising dinner and auction which will be hosted at the Clarion Resort Pinewood Park on Friday, April 13th.

North Bay Mayor Al McDonald has offered his support again to the group as one of the live auction items will be a Trout Lake pontoon boat cruise for up to 8 guests with a barbeque steak dinner hosted on the dock at the Mayor's home.

New to this year’s auction will be the opportunity to bid and win naming rights for two streets in the Highland Woods Development on Airport Hill.

Tickets are $100 each and are available from foundation office on Fisher Street, Mayne Travel and the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce.
