As of 1:08 PM EST Thursday Environment Canada issued a snow squall warning for North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa and West Nipissing - French River

Snow squalls continuing east of Lake Superior and local squalls over Eastern Nickel Belt.

Snow squalls oriented from west to east have developed over Eastern Lake Superior and over Northern Lake Huron, into the warned regions. Local snow amounts up to 25 cm are expected over the warned areas east of Lake Superior and up to 15 cm over the remaining areas. The snow squalls will be accompanied by brisk winds causing reduced visibilities in blowing snow. Motorists are advised to use caution.

A low over Lake Superior will track into Northeastern Ontario today. General snowfall amounts near 5 cm are expected with this disturbance. However, embedded snow squalls will produce heavier amounts. Snow squalls will continue into the evening east of Lake Superior and they will end over the Eastern Nickel Belt this afternoon.

Environment Canada continues to monitor this situation and will issue warnings as required.
