Burks Falls search warrant results in drug charges

Burks Falls – On January 6, 2011, members of the O.P.P. Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Drug Enforcement Unit, Anishinabek Police Service and the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police detachment executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at a residence in Burks Falls, Armour Township.

As a result of the investigation, officers located a sophisticated Cannabis Marihuana production laboratory and Cannabis Marihuana with a potential street value of over $253,250.00.

One person was arrested and charged and was released via Promise to Appear with Officer in Charge Undertakings:

1. Paul PITKANEN, age 59 yrs, of Armour Township, Burks Falls.

• Production of a Controlled Substance to wit: Cannabis Marihuana, contrary to section 7(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
