McIntyre Street is now open to traffic and the Ontario Fire Marshal is now examining the fire scene at Lefebvre's Source for Adventure 122 Main St. W.

Deputy Fire Chief Brian Hunt says a fire crew will remain on scene overnight and the 100 block of Main Street will remain closed to traffic for an undetermined amount of time.

North Bay Fire and Emergency Services crews were called to a structure fire at Lefebvre's Source for Adventure/Vested Interest Building at 122 Main St. W. Tuesday evening.

Firefighters from all three stations responded to the call shortly after 8pm and arrived to find smoke and flames visible.

Crews located the fire and immediately began to attack it but were unable to save the century-old building.

An engineer will survey the adjoined Vested Interest building that faces onto McIntyre St. Thursday to determine if it is sound enough to remain standing.

The Abbey Cards and Gifts, H&R Block and Pita Pit are damaged by smoke.
