POWASSAN – On January 3, 2011 at approximately 4:05pm, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) conducted a traffic stop on Highway # 11 in Powassan for a speeding offence.

During the course of the stop, the driver was unable to produce his drivers licence and verbally identified himself to police.

The officers returned to their cruiser and using their on board computer terminal were able to access the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) database.

As a result of this query, the officer could easily see that the photo ID on the drivers licence was definitely not the person who was currently driving this vehicle.

As a result, 27 year old Jack GREVES of South River, ON was arrested and consequently released and issued offences notices and a summons to appear in North Bay court on February 3rd, 2012 for:

 Speeding contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario

 Driving While Under Suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario

 Obstruct Officer contrary to section 225 (5) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario
