Joanne and her husband James McIsaac, of North Bay, prepare meals together at the Westwind Heights thanks to the assisted living services funded by the North East LHIN and delivered by PHARA .

It’s important to the McIsaacs that they continue to live independently.

“We’re not ready for a nursing home,” explained Joanne.

The program is designed to provide intensive in-home supports to enable seniors to remain safely in their homes. Around-the-clock scheduled and unscheduled support can be now accessed by an eligible high risk senior.

In the past, AL was building-focused. Now, thanks to an updated High Risk Seniors Policy it can be delivered outside of a building and in areas where large numbers of seniors are clustered around a provider.

High risk seniors are eligible to receive up to 180 hours of personal care and support a month.
