Fedeli announces operating grants for area libraries and museums

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced provincial operating grants for several area libraries and museums for the current fiscal year on Friday.

In addition, and where applicable, some libraries will also receive pay equity funding. In Nipissing, the library amounts are:

• $106,611 for the North Bay Public Library, which is also eligible for an additional $9,141 in one-time funding;

• $8,531 for the East Ferris Township Library, which is also eligible for an additional $2,648 in one-time funding;

• $5,334 for the Mattawa Public Library, which is also eligible for an additional $2,142 in one-time funding;

• $1,993 for the Phelps Public Library, which is also eligible for an additional $2,159 in one-time funding;

• $403 for the Township of Mattawan, which is also eligible for an additional $2,032 in one-time funding

Local museum operating grant amounts include:

• $1,545 for the Mattawa Historical Society and Museum;

• $8,098 for the Callander Bay Heritage Museum

“These institutions play an important cultural and educational role vital to maintaining strong, local communities,” Fedeli said.
