Vehicle blows tire on tractor trailer debris

On December 23, 2011 at approximately 11:30am, members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment attended the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Highway #11 about 15 kilometres north of North Bay.

A north bound Grand Caravan was traveling on Highway #11 when a piece of metal described as a hub presented itself in its path.

The van swerved to avoid the object; however the metal debris struck the right front corner of the vehicle, causing its tire to blow.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

It has been determined that the debris was caused by a south bound tractor trailer losing its left rear trailer wheels while in motion.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has also attended the scene to assist in the investigation.
