OPP issue arrest warrant Callander man following violent B&E Update

Kolin MOUSSEAU has been located and arrested by the North Bay Police Service and has since been turned over to the custody of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment. He will be held in custody for a Bail Hearing tomorrow at the North Bay Court House.

He is charged with:

 Disguise with Intent contrary to section 351(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada

 Robbery with a Weapon contrary to section 344(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

 Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada

 Assault with a Weapon X 2 contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Members of the Powassan Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and North Bay OPP Criminal Investigations Unit responded to a 911 call to a King Street residence in Powassan on December 13th, 2011 at approximately 10:45pm in response to a report of a break and enter in progress at the residence.

The OPP is currently investigating a robbery involving a male in disguise who was armed with a weapon. Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit and North Bay Police Service Criminal Investigations Unit were utilized in a search for the suspect with negative results. The Forensic Identification Unit was also dispatched to the scene to assist in the investigation.

The victims of the robbery suffered minor injuries in the incident and the suspect fled the scene and has not been located.

An arrest warrant has been issued for the apprehension of the Kolin MOUSSEAU, 29 years old of Callander, Ontario. A photo of the suspect is attached to this release.

He is described as being 5’8’’ in height, with a thin build of 140 pounds, long shaggy brown hair and whiskered facial hair.

The OPP is searching for the known suspect who is considered to be a threat to public safety in relation to this active investigation.

Anyone who may know of the whereabouts of Kolin MOUSSEAU or who may come into contact with him should not approach. Instead, contact the police as soon as possible by calling 9-1-1. If a suspicious person or activity is noticed, the public is also asked to call police. The OPP reminds motorists not to pick up hitchhikers.
