Hewitt remains Chair of the Near North Board

At its Annual Meeting on December 13, 2011, Near North District School Board Trustee Kathy Hewitt was acclaimed as Chair of the Board. Mrs. Hewitt was elected by her fellow trustees for a second consecutive one year term. At the same meeting, Trustee David Thompson was also acclaimed as Vice-Chair for a second one year term.

The Near North District School Board provides education for 10,500 students in numerous communities across a wide geographic region. The Board operates 41 schools including 7 secondary schools and community education programs. The Board of Trustees is comprised of 8 elected trustees, a First Nations representative elected by First Nations in the area and a student representative elected by the Student Senate of the Board.
