One person charged in three vehicle collision on Hwy 17

Members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a three (3) vehicle collision on Highway #17 west of North Bay this morning. The highway was reduced to one (1) lane for a short period of time, however it is totally open at this time and the involved vehicles have been cleared from the area.

Investigation into the collision has revealed that there were two (2) vehicles travelling eastbound on Highway #17, one behind the other when a third vehicle turned eastbound onto Highway #17 from Beaucage Park Rd in front of the other 2 vehicles. The eastbound vehicles were not able to stop as a result of the turning vehicle and both vehicles collided with one another and the 3rd vehicle. All three (3) occupants / drivers of each vehicle were sent to hospital with minor injuries.

Charged with Start from Stopped Position not in Safety contrary to Section 142(2) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario is Ruby GREENE of North Bay.
