Members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) came across two (2) separate incidents of drinking alcohol in the vehicle over the weekend.

While conducting Festive RIDE, OPP officers found vehicles where the passengers actually had open containers of alcohol in the vehicle while their teenage drivers were driving on our roadways. In both instances, the driver was not impaired, but held responsible for the actions and behaviours of their respective passengers.

Charged with Having Care or Control of a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor contrary to Section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario are:

* 19yr old Richard ABBOTT of Pickering, Ontario
* 19yr old Keaton GADWAY of Harcourt, Ontario

Responsible, safe and sober driving is needed by everyone operating a motor vehicle on our roads – which includes obeying all laws governing that operation.
