Planning for this year's Summer in the Park Festival now underway

The Summer in the Park Committee is excited to announce some of the programming lined up for this year’s festival. The Lee Park programming will remain free to the public and will include the ever popular Inflatable Land, the Petting Zoo, exotic pet show, various children’s performers, face painting, community groups and food & product vendors. “We are thrilled to continue to offer such an array of free entertainment to the public” stated Jake Lacourse, Summer in the Park committee member.”

Also returning to Lee Park is World’s Finest Shows Midway, representation from The 22 Wing North Bay, Algonquin Regiment, Rotary Bingo in the Park and the Northern Ontario Open Country Singing Contest. Art in the Park is expanding this year to include a Juried Art Exhibition and professional art workshops. “We are hoping the Juried Art Exhibition and professional art workshop will attract people from further distances to participate in the festival” stated Sean Lawlor, Program and Entertainment Chair.

“Plans are underway for another exciting year of entertainment for the 2012 Summer in the Park Festival. Although our negotiations for bands is just underway, we are out of the gate early in terms of festival bookings and the performers we are looking at are extraordinary, and at the top of their game. Time will allow us to unfold this exciting adventure for North Bay and surrounding communities. Rest assured we will be announcing an extraordinary lineup in the New Year” stated Dee Adrian, General Manager of the Capitol Centre.

Gift cards are $25 for this Christmas promotion, and will increase to $30 in the New Year. Use cash, credit card or debit. “These entertainment gift cards are an extraordinary stocking stuffer for anyone that enjoys first class entertainment in an outdoor setting at a ROCK-bottom price” stated Dee Adrian. Gift cards will be on sale at this special price until December 25, 2011.

The musical entertainment component for the festival will take place in the evening on Friday August 3rd and Saturday August 4th. The free family fun portion of the Summer in the Park Festival will take place in Lee Park Friday August 3rd 10am - 11 pm, Saturday August 4th and Sunday August 5th 11 am - 11 pm.

Cogeco has once again come on board to be the event sponsor of the Summer in the Park Festival. This is Cogeco’s third year as the festival event sponsor.
