Between the mornings of December 8, 2011 and December 9, 2011, members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have responded to ten (10) vehicle collisions. Four (4) have involved wildlife bounding onto the highway, five (5) have involved drivers reporting that the weather and roads were the factor, and the final incident involved a tractor trailer getting stuck going up a hill.

Police are reminding motorists again to drive according to the weather conditions. While there were 4 crashes where the driver indicated weather the factor, there were probably hundreds of vehicles who were able to negotiate the conditions. As well, weather is not our only issue in Northern Ontario, it appears the deer are on the move and the reports of these are also on the rise.

Christmas is but 16 days away, drive according to the weather conditions, be aware and be safe.
