The Health Unit’s new Dental Clinic has “decked the walls” with children’s artwork and filled the clinic with hundreds of clients!

The Dental Clinic, located at 700 Cassells Street in North Bay, now showcases colorful artwork submitted by children who received dental care at the clinic. An art contest, which ran from August to October, invited artwork submissions depicting positive oral health messages from clients aged 4 to 17 years. While all artists received a special thank you gift, the artists of the top 20 submissions were recognized with special prizes, including the opportunity to have their artwork mounted and displayed at the Health Unit’s Dental Clinic.

Since opening June 8, 2011, the Dental Clinic has provided dental services to 389 children for an average of 3 appointments each. The clinic for children and youth who are 17 years of age and younger, provides full dental treatment for those eligible under the Healthy Smiles Ontario Program, Children in Need of Treatment Program or other income support programs. Services include regular visits to a dentist or registered dental hygienist, check-ups, fillings, x-rays and more.

For information about eligibility requirements, please call the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit at 705-474-1400, ext. 2468, or 1-800-563-2808. Information is also available at www.healthunit.biz.
