Hwy17 from North Bay to Deep River is closed Update

Highway #17 east has now been re-opened between North Bay and Mattawa for regular traffic.

Highway #17 does remain closed east of Mattawa at the Renfrew county Line according to the Smith Falls Provincial Communications Centre (PCC) and the Upper Ottawa Valley of the Ontario Provincial Police.

As a result of the current weather and the poor driving conditions Highway #17 east bound from North Bay has been closed to all traffic. Road closure signs will be erected at the north bound and south bound ramps leading to Highway #17 from Highway #11.

Local traffic is being asked to use alternative routes as absolutely no traffic will be allowed to use Highway #17 at this time. There is no current time table for the duration of the closure, however an updated media release will be sent out as soon as the highway is re-opened.

Upper Ottawa & North Bay Detachments of the OPP advise motorists that as of 9:12am Hwy 17 from Mattawa - Deep River is closed due to poor road and weather conditions along with large numbers of vehicles stuck.

There is no detour and the estimated duration of the road advisory is unknown.
