On November 29, 2011 at approximately 9:45 am, emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of a collision involving a car and a male pedestrian. Members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, along with Fire and Ambulance crews attended the scene.

The preliminary investigation and witness accounts have indicated that the male pedestrian was walking on O’Brien Ave and attempting to cross the Bypass. The pedestrian then began to cross the highway against the light and against the flow of the right of way of the highway traffic. The east bound traffic were able to avoid the pedestrian, and then after a brief pause at the centre median, the pedestrian again attempted to cross the highway against the flow of traffic and was struck by a west bound compact car. The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the collision.

The adult male pedestrian was transported to the hospital by the ambulance with injuries. At the time of this release, his identity and injuries were not immediately known as well as next of kin notification was currently being completed.
