On November 19, 2011 at approximately 12:38 am an MTO officer came across a vehicle in the ditch on Hwy #17 between North Bay and Sturgeon Falls and summoned members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment to attend the scene.

Officers attended the scene and identified the driver of the vehicle. While at the scene and during the course of their investigation, the officers noted signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for Impaired Driving by drug and the OPP area expert conducted a Drug Recognition Evaluation (DRE), which confirmed that the driver was impaired by drugs.

Charged is an 18 year old from Caledon, ON with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle by Drug contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was released and his first court appearance date will be December 6, 2011 in North Bay, ON.
