The Kiwanis Club of Nipissing is pleased to confirm that the first copies of "Northern Shores", a coffee table book of canoeing images and stories in support of One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre will be on sale this week.

Edited by Paul Chivers and Chris Mayne, the book includes 150 pages of full colour photography and canoeing stories all taken within the same geographic area as served by One Kids Place. Essentially this includes two of the most popular canoeing areas in the world - Algonquin Park & Lake Temagami,

The project includes photography from a number of outstanding photographers – Paul Chivers, Darren Makarenko, Andrew Collett, Robert Stimpson, Peter Bowers, Andy Stevens, Chris Mayne, Jerry Schmanda & Greg McGuinty and has also been supported by national canoeing personalities including Hap Wilson, Kevin Callan & Becky Mason.

All publishing costs have been covered with the generous support of a number of local sponsors - Dean's Pharmasave, Assante, Atlas Copco, Redpath Engineering, Northgate Square, Lynn Johnston Productions, Tembec - so that all proceeds from the sale of the books will be going to One Kids Place, specifically in support of their equipment room.

The Equipment Room at One Kids Place stores wheelchairs, braces and other assistive devices that can be used by children with special mobility needs and returned and reused when possible.

Kiwanis will be celebrating the books arrival at their dinner "Classical Christmas" this Thursday evening at the Clarion Pinewood Resort. A six course meal will be served with several local classical musicians, including Doreen Bryer, Tomaz & Regina Milczarek and Jennifer Baxter performing during the evening. Tickets are available for $100 per person.

The official book launch starts at 4:30 p.m. at Gulliver’s downtown, during the Downtown Christmas Walk and photographer and editor Paul Chivers will be on hand for book signing. Books will also be on sale Saturday at Gulliver’s and a number of other Kiwanian locations aswell.
