The Rotary Club of North Bay in partnership with St. John Ambulance is running a free CPR and Choking Training. This is the first time the local Rotary club has initiated such a training program and it is meant to prepare people as first responders until a certified person appears on the scene. First responders can make a difference in saving a life.

First responders are people who live amongst us every day. They could be mom, dad, brother, sisters, a fellow student, a co-worker or people we hang out with socially. While not certified in CPR first responders have knowledge in applying basic CPR until a certified person appears on the scene. It may take an emergency crew minutes to arrive on a scene where a person is in need of help. Those precious minutes could make a difference in saving a life if a person has basic skills in keeping an individual’s airway open until the emergency crew arrives.

The training takes place at on Saturday November 19, 2011 and there are two sessions. People can sign up for the morning session (9: 30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) or the afternoon session from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. The training event takes place at Marshall Park School, 4 Marshall Park Drive, North Bay. People can register by calling 705.495.3626 extension 5158.
