The Electrical Safety Authority is notifying the public that Acer America Corporation has announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately.

Name of Product: Aspire notebook computer.

Units: Approximately 262 sold in Canada.

Manufacturer: Inventee Enterprise System Corporation

Importer: Acer America Corporation

Hazard: An internal microphone wire under the palm rest can short circuit and overheat. This poses a potential burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: No incidents reported in Canada, two incidents were reported in Singapore and one reported in Taiwan. None of the incidents involved injuries.

Description/Models: Model Numbers AS2810-4630, AS3810T-6197, AS3810T-8097 and AS3810TZ-4000.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled notebook computers immediately and contact Acer to determine if their notebook is affected and to receive a free repair.
