Building codes don’t apply to log homes, right? Wrong! The new building codes in Canada will require minimum energy efficiency performance from all new home constructions, and log homes may have difficulty reaching these new standards. However it is possible through attention to construction detail and material selection in the design and building of the log home shell to greatly improve its energy efficiency.

A breakfast seminar on “Energy Efficiency and Log Homes” by international log home expert Dalibor Houdek from FPInnovations will be presented on December 9th from 8:00 to 10a.m. at the Best Western at 700 Lakeshore Drive in North Bay.

The breakfast and seminar are sponsored by NECO Community Futures Development Corporation and the Northern Ontario Value Added Initiative (NOVA). NOVA is a not-for-profit initiative committed to providing technical support to the wood products industry.

Please contact Percy Champagne, NOVA Industry Advisor, at (807) 487-9923 or [email protected] for further details.
