Firehall Fright Night Chairman Chris Cuthbertson accepts a donation from a passerby on Ferguson Street during an interview with BayToday Wednesday.

They are now in the home stretch with only 4 days to go until the Halloween bash at Station 1 and the folks at the North Bay Fire & Emergency Services say they are halfway to the goal needed to make the holiday event a safe, happy and memorable one for city children.

“The biggest need we have right now is candy," says Event Chairman Chris Cuthbertson.

"The community has always been so great to us as far as making a donation of candy, and really three quarters of our donations are candy that comes from the community so that's the one thing that we are requesting right now."

"We are about halfway there as far as candy goes we're about 4 totes full, we usually get about 8 to 12 so we've got the final push on for the candy this year."

Cuthbertson says donations can be dropped off at Fire Station 1 any time of the day and they are accepting donations right up until the event kicks off Halloween night.

Cuthbetson notes that ninety percent of the candy for the event is received through candy donations alone. The rest is made up with the financial donations we receive for the event, so cash donations are also very much appreciated and go toward the purchase of treats for the kids.
